WHAT:  General Overview of the Caltrans Division of Aeronautics

Ms. Provost will provide a general overview of Caltrans' Division of Aeronautics, discuss her role as Chief of Office of Program and Technical Services, and share some examples of small general aviation airport pavement projects.

Ms. Lee Provost is a licensed professional civil engineer working as a senior transportation engineer for Caltrans.  She is the chief of the office of program and technical services for the Division of Aeronautics, and supervises an engineering staff.  She has her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering/Engineering Mechanics from Cal State Fullerton, a Master’s of Science in Transportation Management from Cal State San Jose College of Business, Mineta Transportation Institute.  She also has an AA degree in Drafting Technology from Santa Ana College and Certificate in Management from UC Davis Extension.

Lee has worked for Caltrans for over 21 years in various functions as a civil engineer. Prior to Caltrans she worked for a hydraulic consulting firm, the US Army Corps of Engineers and Arkansas Highway Department.  At Caltrans, Lee first started in Central Design, and then went to work for District 4 for bridge seismic retrofit work after the ’89 earthquake.  After receiving her PE, she was promoted to work in Office Engineer, Division of Engineering Services as a specification engineer.  She worked in Traffic Operations briefly with Transportation Management Centers.  She was promoted to a Branch Chief, Senior Materials and Research Engineer, Supervisor at the Caltrans Laboratory working with Pavement Field Testing, Coring and Skid Testing statewide.  Lee worked as an engineering liaison for the Headquarters Division of Transportation Planning. After receiving her master’s of science from the Mineta Transportation Institute, she was hired as a Senior Transportation Engineer, Supervisor, for the Division of Aeronautics, where she currently works.

 Lee has one son and enjoys cooking, walking her dog and swimming.  She is involved with PECG and her church.  She also volunteers as a career mentor with Women’s Empowerment helping homeless women through an 8-week program.  She currently has volunteered to help with the local North Bay region Academic Decathlon, which is an academic competition for high school students of all levels.
